Parish of Saint John the Baptist (Reus)
The unfinished Church of St John the Baptist in Reus, in Neo-Gothic style, is a temple with a unique history. Promoted by Father Jacint Bonet, the foundation stone was laid in 1911 under the project of Reus-born architect Pere Caselles. Inaugurated in 1932 by Archbishop Francesc Vidal i Barraquer, the church has undergone several renovations throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, such as the bright refurbishment of the 1990s and the construction of the Atrium and the Crypt/Columbarium (2011), a unique space that opens the parish to the city. Today, St John the Baptist is a spiritual and cultural meeting point, where heritage and community coexist in a living setting full of symbolism.
